My X1 is tripping the fuses in my house - What's that all about?

It is almost certainly your element that has "gone pop" - click HERE for more information.  You may want to consider sending your machine in for service... more information on this is HERE
What cups should I use?
Using the correct style of cup will definitely give you a better coffee experience.

Go for cups with a curved inner.  As the coffee pours into the cup and comes into contact with the base, the curvature helps the coffee to release its natural aroma and flavours.

Espresso cup: Standard Italian: 9cl (90ml) 50mm 66mm 120mm

Cappuccino cup: Standard Italian: 25cl (250ml) 55mm 96mm 160mm

Also porcelain cups are better to drink from rather than earthenware, which tend to be thicker. It just feels nicer on your lips.

A great tip is to warm your cups on the top of the X1 machine – that’s what the cup ring is there for - a warm cup makes for a better coffee.
 
The X1 machine is certainly not designed to take a 'mug sized' cup, the clearance from drip tray to coffee handle is aprox 80mm.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard and Maestro on-line. You can also pay by bank transfer (please request details) or by cheque (however this will really delay your order as we would have to bank it and wait for it to clear).  If you have any problems paying online, we are able to take your details over the phone and process manually.  More details on payments can be found HERE

We will endeavor to ship your spare parts, accessories and coffee orders the same day or within 24 hours. These are normally dispatched using Royal Mail postage, so depending on your location your delivery will be usually be with you within a couple of days. Coffee machines are delivered by courier, so we need to get in touch with you to arrange what's best for you.  For more detailed delivery information, please click HERE
You have 3 types of X1 machines - what's that all about?

It can be a little confusing, as all 3 versions of new FrancisFrancis X1 machines look pretty much the same. The good news is that it's pretty easy to explain.

The X1 GROUND machine is, as the name suggests, designed for only using GROUND COFFEE - there are aren't any adapters or modifications to allow it to use either ESE pods or iperEspresso capsules.

The X1 TRIO machine is designed for only using ESE PODS (the little paper covered "pucks" of coffee) - again, this is a fixed system so no options to convert to ground coffee or iperespresso. The ESE pods are available in standard roast, dark roast or decaf.

The X1 iperEspresso machine is designed for only using Illy iperEspresso capsules (the little plastic "buckets") - this is also a fixed system with no adapters or modifications. The iperEspresso capsules come in a wide variety of roasts.

You say you are FrancisFrancis experts... REALLY?

Yup - we've been selling FrancisFrancis (we believe) for longer than anyone else in the UK, around 21 years (as of 2020).  Both Chris and Glenn have personally owned FF X1's since 1999 so have years of first hand experience in using them on a daily basis.  As we also service machines and sell spare parts we have an intimate knowledge of how they work, how they are put together and what can go wrong (and why).  If we don't know it is unlikely anyone else in the UK will. We are also experts in the blowing of trumpets in our possession.
